# Manage Tracked sources

# Manage Tracked sources

A **Tracked source** is one specific Discord channel, Telegram chat or channel, Google Drive folder, Dropbox folder, or YouTube channel that you chose to follow. Connecting a service makes selection possible; adding a source decides what actually appears in Tracked.

## Add a source

Open **Library → Tracked**, then choose the add action for the service you want:

* **Track Discord** — choose an accessible Discord channel;
* **Track Telegram** — choose a chat, channel, group, or supported topic;
* **Track Google Drive** — choose a Drive folder or add a supported shared-folder link;
* **Track Dropbox** — choose a Dropbox folder or add a supported shared-folder link;
* **Track YouTube** — choose one of your YouTube subscriptions or add a public channel by link. See [Track YouTube](https://docs.getmotif.page/tracked/youtube-channels.md).

If the service is not connected, Motif starts its connection flow first. After the connection succeeds, return to the picker and choose the source.

Adding one source does not add the rest of the account. Repeat the process for each channel, chat, or folder you want to keep visible.

## Open a source

A Tracked source appears as a card with:

* its name;
* the service icon;
* the number of available tracks;
* its cover or service artwork;
* a badge when Motif has found audio you have not heard through that source yet.

Select the card to open its audio list. Start playback the same way you would from a local Library list.

## Refresh a source

Open the source's **More** menu and select **Refresh**.

Refresh asks the connected service for the source's current supported audio. Use it when you expect a new upload that has not appeared yet.

If the source is disconnected, reconnect the service in **Settings → Connections** before refreshing or playing its remote audio.

## Rename a source inside Motif

1. Open the source's **More** menu.
2. Select **Rename**.
3. Enter the name you want to use in Motif.
4. Press `Enter` or click outside the field to save. Press `Escape` to cancel.

Renaming a card changes its label in Motif. It does not rename the channel, chat, or cloud folder in the external service.

## Change the cover art

Open **More → Change cover art**, then choose an image from your computer.

A custom cover helps distinguish sources quickly without changing anything in the connected service. When a custom cover is present, **Remove cover art** restores the service-derived or default treatment.

## Reorder source cards

Drag a Tracked source card to another position to arrange the Tracked overview around your priorities. For example, place active collaborators or current packs first.

Reordering is a Motif presentation choice. It does not alter the ordering in Discord, Telegram, Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube.

## Copy a source link

For source types that expose a reusable link, the **More** menu includes a copy-link action. Use it when you need to open or share the original source through the relevant service.

The exact label depends on the service. Sources that do not provide a suitable link omit the action.

## Remove a source

1. Open the source's **More** menu.
2. Select **Remove**.
3. Confirm when Motif asks for confirmation.

Removing a Tracked source removes the card from Motif. It does not delete the channel, chat, cloud folder, or any audio stored by the external service. It also does not disconnect the whole service; other sources from that service remain available.

## Understand new-audio badges

A red badge on a source reports supported audio Motif has discovered but that you have not yet heard through the source. Open the source and listen to the new material to clear the relevant unheard state.

The badge is a Motif listening aid, not an unread-message count for the entire external service.

## Search, sort, and layout

Use Tracked search to narrow source cards by name. Switch between cover and list layouts depending on whether you want a visual overview or a denser list.

Tracked sources support ordering choices such as name, date, track count, and your manual arrangement. Manual ordering preserves the arrangement you created by dragging cards.

## Source cards versus downloaded tracks

The source card remains connected to its service. Playing remote audio does not automatically make that audio part of your watched local folders.

Use **Download** on an individual supported remote track when you want a local copy. See [Save Tracked music locally](https://docs.getmotif.page/tracked/save-locally.md).
