Listening in Motif
Motif keeps listening connected to the music you are browsing. Select a track in Library or Tracked and the now playing bar appears at the bottom of the window. It continues playing while you move between views.The visible list is the queue
Motif does not require a separate queue panel. The tracks currently visible after search, filtering, sorting, or opening a collection become the active play order. This means:- next and previous follow the current view;
- automatic advance continues through that view;
- narrowing search also narrows what playback will move through;
- the play and shuffle buttons on a collection make that collection the queue.
Now playing bar
The compact player keeps the essential controls available:- current title and credits;
- shuffle;
- previous, play or pause, and next;
- repeat off, repeat all, and repeat one;
- elapsed and total time with a seekable progress rail;
- mute and volume;
- version comparison controls when versions exist;
- an expand control for the focused player.
Expanded player
Open the expanded player by selecting the current title or expand control. The focused view adds:- a large waveform or audio-reactive visualizer;
- track metadata such as BPM, key or detune, format, type, and credits;
- the same transport and seek controls;
- visualizer preset navigation and fullscreen.
Waveform navigation
The expanded waveform is more than decoration:- click or drag to seek;
- use the mouse wheel to zoom around the pointer;
- let the view follow the playhead while music continues;
- use the Left and Right arrow keys to move five seconds when you are not typing in a field.
Visualizers
The visualizer reacts to the current audio and rotates through a set of scenes.- click the canvas for another scene;
- use Up and Down in visualizer mode to move between presets;
- allow scenes to change automatically during continued playback;
- use the top-right control to enter or leave fullscreen.
Versions while listening
Versioned tracks add an older-version control, blind A/B mode, and random-version selection to the now playing bar. Switching versions keeps the surrounding listening context intact. Read Versions for grouping and comparison behavior.Global shortcuts
Shortcuts do not take over while you are typing into a text field.
Playback from local Library files uses the file on your computer. Playback from Tracked uses the connected source unless that item has been downloaded locally.
