What is Tracked?

Tracked lets you follow specific places where music arrives outside your computer: a Discord channel, Telegram chat or topic, Google Drive folder, Dropbox folder, or YouTube channel. It is designed for sources you revisit, not for importing an entire connected account.

Sources, not services

Connecting Discord, Telegram, Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube makes that service available to Motif. A public YouTube channel can also be followed by link without connecting YouTube. It does not automatically follow every server, chat, or folder. You then add individual Tracked sources from the places you are allowed to access. Each source becomes a card in Library → Tracked.

What a source card tells you

A Tracked card can show:
  • source name and service;
  • cover art or an automatically available service image;
  • number of audio files;
  • latest activity in list view;
  • a red new-audio count;
  • loading or disconnected state.
Open the card to see audio from that source. Opening it clears the source’s new-audio badge because Motif now considers the source reviewed.

Listen without importing

Remote audio can play from its connected service. A cloud indicator identifies an item that has not been saved locally; a green downloaded indicator identifies a local copy. The Tracked detail view offers Play, Shuffle, and Refresh source when the source is available.

Local and remote stay distinct

Tracked audio does not automatically enter the local Library. This matters because the two areas have different purposes:
  • Library reflects watched folders on your computer;
  • Tracked reflects selected external sources;
  • Download saves a local copy under Documents\Motif\<Service>;
  • moving or dragging that copy into a watched folder is what makes it part of Library.
Read Save Tracked music locally for the complete flow.

Refresh behavior

Opening a source refreshes it when necessary. You can also choose Refresh from the card menu or Refresh source inside the source. Refresh retrieves the current audio listing and updates expiring links. It does not copy every remote file to your computer.

Disconnected services

If a connection expires or is removed, its cards become unavailable. Open the source and choose Connect Service to restore access. Reconnecting preserves the source card and allows Motif to refresh and play it again. Removing the card is a separate action.
Cloud audio larger than Motif’s playback limit cannot be streamed in the app. Download or open that file through its original service instead.
